15 min. – Phonics time
We use the Zoo Phonics program to teach students the alphabet and letter sounds. This unique program teaches phonemic awareness through a whole brain approach--hearing (audio), seeing (visual), speaking (oral), moving (kinesthetic), and touching (tactile). You will be amazed how quickly your child knows their letters and sounds!
15 min. – Snack Time
We love working on our cognitive, social, language, and fine motor skills as we pour, measure, sort, count, chat, and enjoy eating together.
30 min. – Center Time / 30 min. Learning Time
Center time
Often known as “Free Play” or “Play Time,” our many centers include Dramatic Play, Sensory, Art, Building, Literacy, Writing, and Science. We work on social, emotional, and language skills such as using our words, taking turns, being patient, negotiating conflicts, etc. In addition, our teacher brings over small groups or works 1-on-1 with building cognitive skills (colors, shapes, letters, sounds, numbers, counting, math/reading for older kids) based on each child’s level.
LEARNING TIME
This is our "academic time". Students will learn to write their first and last names, recognize colors and shapes, cut and glue, write letters and numbers, recognize letters, know the letter sounds, count to 20 or more, have awareness for others, understand how to use books, rhyme, and basic comprehension.
30 min. Art & Craft time / 30 min.- Outside time
ART & CRAFT
This is an exciting time for the kids. We have a craft or art everyday. This is a time to learn to cut, glue, follow simple directions, and to just create.
Outside Time
Our playground areas include slides, sand boxes, balls, trucks, playhouse, and more! You’ll think we’re just playing, but we’re actually working on our social, emotional, language, and gross motor skills as we run, jump, climb, swing, and create games.
